Requirements

Candidates must have 7+ years of software development experience, including 4+ years in API development and 3+ years of experience developing and deploying micro-services in AWS or other cloud environments. A minimum of 3 years of experience with DevOps principles and CI/CD pipelines such as Circle CI is required. A Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and years of experience is also necessary. Preferred qualifications include experience with GitHub/GitLab, Agile development, event-driven architecture (e.g., Kafka), Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) solutions, integrating AI technology, and mainframe database CDC/ETL processes.

Responsibilities

The Staff Software Development Engineer will serve as a senior technical expert and leader for teams building server/microservice/backends. They will be responsible for delivering robust, scalable, performant APIs for Aetna web and mobile applications, supporting member access to health information and resources. This role involves building software using modern, lean agile processes and deploying continuously into the cloud. Responsibilities also include translating complex problems into software designs, potentially implementing BFF solutions with CMS integration, and integrating AI technology. The engineer should be open to discussing and proposing alternative solutions.
