About the Role

As part of Confluent’s mission to set data in motion, the Apache Flink® product management team owns both our fully-managed service for Apache Flink in the cloud and our self-managed stream processing offering, Confluent Platform for Apache Flink. Our mission is to deliver a cloud-native and complete stream processing solution to our customers everywhere, enabling them to derive valuable insights and take immediate actions from their data in motion.

We are seeking an accomplished Staff Product Manager to drive the success of the Confluent Platform for Apache Flink product. This role involves defining a strategic roadmap, maintaining a tight feedback loop with customers and the field organization, and collaborating closely with our engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop a strategic vision for Confluent Platform for Apache Flink, aligning with the overall vision for Confluent Platform and our cloud offering for Apache Flink.
• Define and conceptualize a great end-to-end product experience.
• Translate strategy into a roadmap to deliver that experience and value to our customers.
• Partner with product marketing, technical field, and sales organizations to develop go-to-market plans, launch strategies, and compelling enablement for Confluent Platform for Apache Flink.
• Engage regularly with customers, users, and internal stakeholders to identify pain points, discover opportunities, and continuously refine the product through an ongoing feedback loop.

Requirements

• Minimum 4+ years of experience as a software product manager, ideally for a developer or operator-centric product.
• 6+ years of experience in overall technical roles.
• Proven track record building and managing enterprise-grade software, ideally in distributed data systems, streaming, or large-scale infrastructure, as an engineer, product manager, or solutions architect.
• Demonstrated experience defining product specifications and user experiences across interfaces (API, CLI, GUI).
• Excellent written communication skills.
• Strong ability to collaborate and lead initiatives across distributed, remote teams.
• Deep technical understanding of stream processing systems, public/private/hybrid cloud infrastructure, security, and data governance.

What Gives You an Edge

• Experience working with Open Source communities is a plus.
• Basic coding experience is beneficial.
• Familiarity with Apache Flink, Apache Kafka, and the wider streaming ecosystems.
