Responsibilities

Assess and monitor the health of a large-scale PostgreSQL (Aurora RDS) database (>50 TB)
Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, including I/O, memory, and CPU-related issues
Identify and optimize database bottlenecks, long-running SQL queries, indexes, and schema design
Implement robust guardrails for observability, monitoring, query control, and database health
Design data retention and purging policies to reduce storage bloat
Consult with application teams on schema redesign and query optimization
Guide transition and offloading of analytical workloads to OLAP
Recommend cost-effective strategies to reduce AWS resource consumption
Collaborate with business analysts and developers to align database performance with application functionality
