Requirements

Candidates must have a practical experience or a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, with over 8 years of experience in cloud development, management, and operations. Proficiency in at least one major programming language is required, along with strong written and verbal communication skills. Preferred qualifications include experience with Google Cloud, Kubernetes, Atlantis, Spacelift, Terraform Cloud, and designing/managing complex distributed systems in a public cloud environment. Experience writing technical documentation or building codelabs is also preferred.

Responsibilities

The Staff Cloud Engineer will own the vision, roadmap, and execution for a broad functional area, setting technical direction and priorities for team members. Responsibilities include working on Verily’s core production management and automation platforms to improve operability and usability, developing and driving adoption of core cloud provisioning systems, and building/delivering training material for engineering teams to enhance service reliability, observability, scalability, and automation. This role also involves integrating Google Cloud services with core cloud management systems and influencing architecture and infrastructure decisions within the broader engineering organization.
