Candidates must be United States citizens or possess permanent residency. A strong background in developing and maintaining large-scale distributed systems, processing trillions of events daily, is essential. Experience with building out Unified Search, Protobuf libraries, shared-tier architectural components, and core libraries/product services is required. Familiarity with observability tooling (tracing, profiling, alerting, SLOs) and large-scale automations, particularly for cloud builds, is necessary. Algorithmic thinking and a passion for optimization are highly valued. Experience with Go is preferred.
The Senior Software Engineer will develop and maintain services to meet reliability and scalability demands, including enhancing monitoring services. They will extend and build new libraries for cross-cutting concerns across the cloud platform, consisting of hundreds of libraries and services. Responsibilities include re-evaluating the product to improve architecture, knowledge models, user experience, performance, and stability. The engineer will use and contribute to the open-source community, evangelize best practices for building software (especially Go), and collaboratively brainstorm, define, and build with multiple teams. They will also mentor other developers on web, backend, and data storage technologies, update OSS dependencies, and be mentored on web security, authentication, and authorization strategies. The role requires an energetic self-starter capable of taking ownership and accountability for deliverables.
