About the Role

You will join the cloud backend team within the Platform product group, focusing on authentication and authorization (Auth). This team is critical to the cloud infrastructure and collaborates with multiple product groups. The team builds services capable of making over 1 trillion decisions daily.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead backend engineering efforts from prototyping to large-scale applications.
  • Leverage cloud-based systems to detect targeted attacks and automate cyber threat intelligence.
  • Brainstorm, define, and build collaboratively with other teams.
  • Obsess about learning and championing new technologies.
  • Mentor and be mentored on web, backend, and data storage technologies.
  • Re-evaluate product architecture to improve performance and stability.
  • Be an energetic self-starter and take ownership of deliverables.
  • Use and contribute to the open-source community.

What You’ll Need

  • Degree in Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • 8+ years of backend development experience
  • Ability to scale backend systems (sharding, partitioning, horizontal scaling)
  • Desire to ship code and experience with production environments
  • Deep understanding of distributed systems and scalability challenges
  • Deep understanding of multi-threading, concurrency, and parallel processing
  • Team player skills and collaborative mindset
  • Thorough understanding of engineering best practices (testing, code reviews, architecture)
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Ability to meet commitments and produce high-quality, tested software

Bonus Points

  • Authored and led successful open-source libraries and projects
  • Existing exposure to Go, AWS, GCP, SpiceDB, Kafka, Elasticsearch
  • Familiarity with SAML, OAuth, SSO, OIDC, JWTP
  • Prior experience in cybersecurity or intelligence fields
