Requirements

Candidates should possess significant experience tracking and investigating sophisticated adversaries, such as APTs and cybercrime groups, along with strong scripting abilities in languages like Python or Bash. Familiarity with hardware-level threats, infrastructure-focused attack surfaces, SIEMs, telemetry pipelines, and threat enrichment platforms is also required. Experience with modern adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures across various environments is essential, and the ability to independently drive investigations is crucial.

Responsibilities

As a Technical Threat Investigator at OpenAI, you will track, disrupt, analyze, and deeply understand sophisticated adversaries targeting the company. You will conduct investigations using security telemetry, internal safety systems, and enrichment sources, build lightweight tooling and automations, produce high-quality threat intelligence reports for internal stakeholders, and collaborate closely with Detection & Response, Infrastructure Security, and other investigative teams. Your work will directly inform the security strategy and shape how threat intel teams operate, and you will identify gaps in telemetry or tooling and propose scalable improvements.
