Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, and have at least 8 years of experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on backend systems and distributed architectures. Demonstrated experience with cloud technologies, particularly Google Cloud Platform (GCP), is essential, along with proficiency in programming languages such as Python or Java. A deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, and database design is also required.
As a Principal Software Engineer, you will define and drive the long-term technical architecture and platform strategy for Reddit’s Ads backend, balancing the needs of advertisers and Reddit users. You will lead the tech evolution of the Reddit & Ads stack, standardize cloud resources and data observability practices, and contribute to cost of revenue tracking and optimizations. Additionally, you will unlock developer velocity, build from proof of concepts to fully productionized systems, and operate as a force multiplier elevating engineers and the organization.
