Senior Software Development Engineer - UI Platform

Position Overview

Join the UI Platform team at Workday and be part of building the software that powers the Workday user experience for millions of people daily. About the Role

This role supports U.S. Federal Government contracts, requiring all personnel working on these contracts to be United States citizens (naturalized or native).

As a Senior Software Development Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing cloud-scale web services using Java or Kotlin. You will work within an agile team to deliver on shared commitments, contributing to the development of our mobile and web clients.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop cloud-scale web services in Java or Kotlin.
  • Collaborate with team members and other teams across Workday to design, develop, and deploy end-to-end solutions.
  • Engineer services to run reliably at cloud-scale.
  • Support Workday's services in production via an on-call support rotation.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience developing enterprise web applications or services in Java and Spring.

Other Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related fields, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience delivering back-end services in microservice or event-driven architectures.
  • Some frontend experience is desirable, developing cross-platform web applications.
  • Passion for learning new technologies and skills.
  • Tenacious and logical problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience in cloud-native architecture (Docker, Kubernetes, Istio, Helm) and AWS technologies is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership on complex projects and mentor team members.
