Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a closely related field
  • 3-4 years with strong systems exposure, or 5+ years in SaaS accounting with proven systems/process leadership
  • Strong practical experience with formulating technical requirements and navigating system development cycle (Discovery > Development > UAT)
  • Good understanding of ASC 606 principles with practical experience in their application, including SSP-based revenue recognition
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong proficiency in using generative AI tools, including techniques to optimize prompts and evaluate outputs, with a conceptual understanding of how AI can support technical research and problem-solving in accounting and finance
  • Experience supporting financial reporting, including revenue variance analysis
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Experience reviewing the work of junior team members and providing mentorship on professional development
  • Preferred Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Review complex customer contracts for ASC 606 considerations and assess operational impact
  • Research and drive adoption of new accounting systems and features. Effectively project manage stakeholders and improve cross-functional alignment
  • Translate accounting requirements into clear system specifications for developers, ensuring functionality is built to support ASC 606 compliance and efficiency
  • Develop training and documentation for Finance, Sales, and RevOps teams to ensure adoption of new systems and processes, including evaluating and adopting AI
  • Draft accounting memos and responses to external auditor inquiries
  • Ensure accuracy of monthly revenue reporting through automated controls, system-enabled workflows, and variance analysis
  • Identify opportunities to scale revenue processes as Pendo grows, balancing compliance with efficiency. Continuously assess industry best practices and emerging technologies in SaaS revenue operations
  • Participate in month end close while driving processes to gain efficiencies and reduce timelines
  • Mentor junior staff members on daily challenges in the revenue recognition function
  • Perform other accounting duties as assigned
