Requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 3–5+ years leading full-stack or platform teams in large-scale, customer-facing environments
  • Proven track record in building and scaling distributed systems using cloud platforms such as AWS
  • Strong hands-on expertise with MongoDB, including schema design, indexing, and performance optimization
  • Deep understanding of service and API development (REST/GraphQL), observability, and event-driven architectures
  • Experience delivering client software across Web, iOS, and Android using modern technologies (React/Next.js, Swift/SwiftUI, Kotlin/Jetpack)
  • Demonstrated excellence in people leadership, fostering inclusive, collaborative teams and effective performance management
  • Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Hybrid role based in Amsterdam with a preference for in-office collaboration 3 days per week

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of full-stack engineers, building scalable, reliable, and secure systems that serve eBay’s sellers
  • Guide technical architecture across services and client applications, ensuring reliability, scalability, security, and cost efficiency
  • Oversee CI/CD, blue/green and canary deployments, and production operations including monitoring, alerting, and incident response
  • Drive the development and integration of robust APIs and event-driven systems, ensuring observability and strong service contracts
  • Partner cross-functionally with product, platform, security, and mobile/web teams to deliver aligned, high-impact solutions
  • Champion engineering standards around testing, documentation, accessibility, and code quality to ensure long-term maintainability
  • Hire, develop, and support engineering talent through coaching, feedback, and clear career growth pathways
