Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active bar membership (implied for Senior Counsel role)
  • Extensive experience in eDiscovery, including development, implementation, and management of eDiscovery programs
  • Expertise in working with Legal Division professionals, outside counsel, vendors, IT, information governance, litigation attorneys, and paralegals
  • Knowledge of eDiscovery processes: identification, collection, processing, review, production of ESI; scoping litigation holds; early case assessment (ECA); data preservation; legal holds
  • Experience managing electronic data processing, document reviews, contract attorneys, and vendors (including hiring, training, terminating)
  • Proficiency in eDiscovery technology, process management systems, automation, standardization, vendor evaluation/selection/implementation
  • Ability to develop policies, procedures, guidance, budgets; conduct training/education sessions
  • Strong advisory skills on legal hold obligations, compliance, record retention, data disposition
  • Capability to stay current on legal developments in discovery, retention, information governance
  • Skills in creating innovative, defensible solutions; driving integration of technology tools across teams

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to create, refine, and implement controls, processes, and business requirements for eDiscovery and emerging technologies
  • Engage with attorneys, paralegals, vendors, IT, and information governance to assist with identification, collection, processing, review, and production of ESI
  • Work with Litigation team and outside counsel to manage electronic discovery issues: scoping litigation holds, identifying data locations, coordinating collections/vendors, developing discovery plans, conducting ECA inquiries/reports
  • Coordinate and manage electronic data processing and document reviews with contract attorneys and vendors, including hiring, training, terminating
  • Advise business partners, internal/external counsel, and Litigation on legal hold preservation obligations throughout the information lifecycle
  • Oversee administration/monitoring of legal holds in eDiscovery systems; follow up on compliance/questionnaires
  • Develop/maintain written guidance (policies/procedures) on eDiscovery obligations; present training sessions on data preservation
  • Address stakeholder inquiries to ensure compliance with eDiscovery, record retention, legal holds, data disposition
  • Confer with service providers/eDiscovery team on client/industry specifications for data collection, processing, productions, disposition
  • Coordinate automation, standardization of methodologies/workflows; direct eDiscovery technology initiatives (planning to implementation)
  • Coordinate IT efforts for technology tool integration; create innovative/defensible solutions to business challenges
  • Stay current on legal developments in discovery, retention, information governance
  • Develop eDiscovery budget and facilitate budget/technology needs
  • Work with Litigation/Investigations teams to set/manage eDiscovery strategy; independently develop/implement/oversee collection strategies/processes
