Solar Programs Project Manager II - Consumer Protection

Position Overview

Energy Solutions is a growing company focused on market-based programs to deliver large-scale energy, carbon, and water-use savings. Since 1995, we have provided proven, performance-based solutions for utility, government, and institutional customers. We are seeking a full-time Solar Programs Project Manager II - Consumer Protection to join our Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) team. This role is crucial in driving customer participation in programs that incentivize the adoption of distributed and community solar, playing a material role in the transition to a decarbonized grid.

This position is part of the Consumer Protection team supporting our work as the Program Administrator for Illinois Shines. The Illinois Shines program aims to help consumers in Illinois transition to solar power more affordably. Protecting consumers' rights is imperative to meeting Illinois' goal of 100% renewable energy by 2050.

Responsibilities

  • Apply and convey complex processes, policies, and expectations of Program stakeholders.
  • Evaluate participating customer complaints as a member of a high-performing team.
  • Work with consumers (telephonically and via email) on their complaints, facilitating resolution with their solar companies and escalating issues to Program leadership as appropriate.
  • Investigate allegations of program violations, make recommendations for potential disciplinary action, and draft disciplinary-related letters to companies alleged to have violated Program requirements.
  • Manage special projects related to consumer protection issues.
  • Follow established SOPs for complaint resolution and disciplinary action, including communicating directly with solar vendor companies and customers.
  • Document statistics and contribute to disciplinary and complaint reporting.
  • Develop educational materials related to consumer protection requirements and best practices for new companies participating in the Program.
  • Contribute to educational workshops on consumer protection topics such as marketing best practices and Program requirements.
  • Manage the design and implementation of multiple projects, bringing them to conclusion.
  • Communicate project progress to management and clients.
  • Understand Program priorities and adjust workload accordingly.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to handle multiple projects.
  • Extensive experience using Microsoft Office (Office365 and SharePoint).
  • A one-page cover letter is required, explaining your interest in the company and the role. (The use of AI is prohibited in the drafting of the cover letter).

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an energy, engineering, or environmental-related discipline.
  • Preferred experience in consumer protection, legal, investigations, compliance, and/or customer service.
  • Knowledge of solar energy.
