Requirements

  • Ability to apply software engineering knowledge to day-to-day management of a team focused on myQ middleware software (web services, databases, APIs)
  • Experience with New Product Development, Productivity, Sustaining, or Advanced Development projects
  • Capability to solve complex software engineering problems, recognize process gaps, and recommend solutions
  • Skills in resource and project planning, tracking, estimating, and coordinating technical effort based on product requirements
  • Experience recruiting, onboarding, retaining, scheduling, and directly supervising Software Engineers, Software Architects, or Software Supervisors
  • Ability to plan and track financial budgets
  • Knowledge to establish and enforce guidelines, best practices, provide technical leadership, and conduct continuous improvement for middleware developers
  • Experience managing and coordinating local and remote consultants
  • Frequent interaction skills with marketing, product ownership, scrum masters, strategic Lines of Business, and Engineering

Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day management of on-time, on-budget, and quality functional project execution for one team to ensure system reliability
  • Develop functional plan, including resource effort, schedule estimate, and cost, for new and active projects for one team
  • 18-month project forecasting for one team; accountable for direct reports' project time accounting
  • Functional design approach and technical feasibility for multiple projects, with input from key technical personnel from a single team
  • Ensure functional process compliance
  • Maintain standards-based documentation across various architectural views (Conceptual, Logical, Physical) and tiers (Presentation, Business Logic, Storage)
  • Meet and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for functional group
  • Ensure Architectural principles and standards are clearly defined, documented, communicated, and maintained across project and product lifecycles
  • Manage code branching strategy and release process, including verification steps for mobile applications and websites (development to QA to production)
  • Maintain and mature multi-platform continuous integration and continuous deployment processes and tools
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives within the functional area
  • Execute 1-3 year technology roadmap projects
  • Annual expense and capital budget planning and tracking for the team
  • Monitor and create training plans for direct reports to improve core competencies of the functional or business area
  • Review and approve functional deliverables, pull requests, and Change Approval Board (CAB) tickets
