Candidates must have experience leading small teams and strong proficiency in C++ and/or Rust for performance-critical, low-level systems. Experience implementing near-real-time systems on embedded Linux computers is required, along with a deep understanding of real-time systems, robotics middleware, or autonomy stacks. Familiarity with guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) and/or path planning algorithms, and experience developing or integrating with autopilot software are necessary. Candidates should be comfortable working close to hardware, possess systems thinking abilities, and have an ownership mindset. Strong cross-functional collaboration and low-ego communication are also essential.
The Software Engineering Manager will guide a small, focused team operating at the intersection of robotics, embedded software, and autonomy, while also contributing technically to the software stack powering drones. Responsibilities include managing and growing the team, setting technical direction, evolving infrastructure and deployment pipelines for autonomous vehicles, and building the culture, tools, and processes for team scalability. This role involves working on video processing, multi-agent control architecture, autopilot, GNC, and path planning, and making tradeoffs across architecture layers in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.
