Software Engineer, Sr. (24x7x365 Operations and Direct Client Interfacing Support)

Location: Remote (USA) Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week (Weekday and Weekend Shift Availability Required) Clearance: US Citizen | DoD Secret Clearance Shift: Primarily 9 AM - 5 PM, with pager duty for evening/night/weekend incident response.

Position Overview

Rackner is seeking a Software Engineer to support Air Force Platform One and Air Mobility Command, ensuring high uptime for their chat operations. This role requires direct customer interaction and a commitment to 24x7x365 readiness due to global operational requirements. The Software Engineer will analyze coding problems, develop procedural improvements, and exercise independent judgment in designing, developing, troubleshooting, debugging, and implementing software.

Requirements

• Programming Languages: Strong experience with several modern languages (e.g., Javascript, Go, HTML) with expertise in designing, developing, troubleshooting, debugging, and implementing high-quality code.
• Computing Environments: Experience with a wide variety of computing environments, including cloud and containerized solutions.
• Development Approach: Cultivates a "security-first" and "test-first" approach to test-driven development.
• Key Technologies: Demonstrated knowledge in one or more of the following: Go, React, Docker.
• Exposure to: Gitlab, AWS, Kubernetes, SQL (Postgres or MySQL).

Responsibilities

• Assist the 24x7x365 team in ensuring Mattermost is operational at all times.
• Engage in innovative R&D tasks during periods of no active support requests.
• Apply comprehensive knowledge across key tasks and high-impact assignments.
• Plan and lead major technology assignments.
• Evaluate performance results and recommend significant changes to influence project growth and success.
• Function as a technical expert across the team and tasks.
• Create and maintain documentation for implementations.
• Execute the full software development life-cycle (SDLC).
• Develop flowcharts, layouts, and documentation to identify requirements and solutions.
• Write well-designed, testable code.
• Produce specifications and determine operational feasibility.
• Integrate software components into fully functional software systems.
• Develop software verification plans and quality assurance procedures.
• Document and maintain software functionality.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems.
• Respond to customer phone calls and assist in resolving production code or deployment issues.
• Deploy programs and evaluate user feedback.
• Comply with project plans and industry standards.
• Ensure software is updated with the latest features.
