ClickHouse is seeking an experienced engineer to join its Observability team. This role involves building and operating the telemetry platform that supports both internal monitoring and customer-facing observability features. The team manages systems that ingest trillions of events daily, requiring engineers who are adept at software, systems, and infrastructure. The ideal candidate is proactive, skilled in production debugging, and enjoys tackling complex challenges in system design, infrastructure, automation, and incident response.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate distributed systems for observability in ClickHouse Cloud.
  • Ensure the reliability, performance, and cost-efficiency of telemetry pipelines and storage systems.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, driving root-cause analysis and implementing long-term fixes.
  • Develop tooling and automation to reduce repetitive operational tasks.
  • Contribute to the observability roadmap by identifying bottlenecks and scaling challenges.
  • Collaborate with other engineering teams to enhance their observability.
  • Participate in design discussions, architecture reviews, and mentor team members.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience building and operating production systems at scale.
  • Proficiency in at least one systems-level programming language (e.g., Go, C++, Rust, Python).
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Helm, ArgoCD, and Terraform, or similar Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
  • Comfort working with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Familiarity with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar observability tools.
  • Experience with ClickHouse.

Compensation

  • US Salary Ranges:
    • New York Area / San Francisco Area: $135,000 - $232,000 USD
    • Los Angeles, CA / Washington, DC: $121,500 - $208,800 USD
    • Seattle, WA: $121,500 - $208,800 USD
    • General US Remote: $114,750 - $197,200 USD
