Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Proven experience in software development, particularly in autonomous systems or robotics, is required. Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Python, or Java is essential, with a strong emphasis on object-oriented design. Familiarity with software development tools and frameworks like ROS, OpenCV, and TensorFlow is necessary, along with knowledge of sensor fusion techniques and SLAM algorithms. Strong problem-solving skills and effective communication abilities are also required.
The Software Engineer, Generalist will collaborate with hardware and robotics engineers, as well as other software engineers, to design, develop, and deploy software solutions for autonomous surface vessels. They will participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance. The engineer will develop robust and scalable software systems, implement algorithms for perception and navigation, and optimize software performance to meet DoD standards. Additionally, they will conduct thorough testing and validation of software components and stay current with emerging technologies in the field.
