Doran Jones is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join a high-performing DevOps team supporting critical infrastructure for a global financial technology company. This role focuses on securities finance applications for investment banks, agent lenders, and hedge funds. It’s a remote role working EST business hours, with participation in an on-call rotation including some weekends. This is a high-impact opportunity to work on critical production systems used by global financial institutions, collaborating with international teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Requirements

• Linux System Administration: Strong hands-on experience with Linux system administration, preferably RHEL or Rocky Linux.
• Production Experience: Experience working in production environments with a focus on reliability and incident response.
• Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to troubleshoot complex system issues.
• AWS Cloud Infrastructure: In-depth experience with AWS cloud infrastructure and services including, but not limited to, EC2, ECS, S3, RDS, Lambda, CloudWatch, Athena, and Systems Manager.
• Monitoring Tools: Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Datadog, or similar).
• Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills; ability to interact with both technical teams and occasionally clients.
• Independent Work: Ability to work independently and manage tasks in a fast-paced Agile environment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor production systems to ensure high availability, performance, and reliability.
• Respond to and resolve incidents promptly.
• Automate routine operational tasks, deployments, and infrastructure maintenance.
• Identify performance bottlenecks and work with engineering teams to optimize application and infrastructure performance.
• Participate in capacity planning and system scaling strategies.
• Ensure systems are secure by design and work closely with internal teams to address vulnerabilities and enforce best practices.
• Collaborate with DevOps and Engineering teams to improve system architecture and deployment pipelines.
• Document processes, runbooks, and best practices for knowledge sharing and operational continuity.

Preferred Experience

• AWS SysOps Associate certification.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools and Git-based workflows.
• Experience using Terraform (ability to read and interpret code).
• Experience using Ansible for configuration management.
• Basic scripting skills in Python or other scripting languages.
