Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent field, along with 5+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), DevOps, or related roles. AWS certifications and experience with AWS Cloud Platforms, including DevOps, Automation, Networking, Connectivity, and Cost Optimization are required. Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation, CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI or Jenkins, and containerization/orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes is essential. A solid understanding of networking topologies and concepts, coupled with experience using monitoring and logging tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Cloudwatch, or Datadog, is also necessary.
The Senior Site Reliability Engineer will develop and implement strategies to enhance system reliability, performance, and scalability, proactively monitoring system health and resolving issues before they impact users. They will lead the response to high-severity incidents, coordinating cross-functional teams to minimize downtime and develop systems for incident management. This role involves partnering with DevOps and other engineering teams to analyze and optimize AWS spend, mentoring junior team members, and collaborating with development and research teams globally to automate operational tasks and processes. Furthermore, the Senior SRE will stay abreast of industry developments and align internal SRE practices with Motional’s business objectives.
