Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science Degree or equivalent experience
  • Three years of industrial supervisory experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office - Word and Excel
  • Experience with Oracle, database development, statistical process control, process control, and automation technologies, and lean manufacturing principles
  • Excellent planning, time management, and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to organize and motivate production teams for safe, high-quality results and maximum productivity
  • Proven ability to professionally communicate with all levels of personnel, in written and verbal forms
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills
  • Strong problem-solving and proven decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated initiative to identify areas, propose and initiate solutions

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily mill inspections with an eye for safety and productivity issues, coordinate with mill support groups to design and implement countermeasures
  • Conduct shift safety meetings and daily toolbox talks, train employees on safe work practices, and conduct daily safe job observations
  • Use LEAN tools from the EVRAZ Business System to engage employees to continuously improve mill operations
  • Schedule and maintain shift manpower for mill operations and training
  • Manage an operational and quality team during manufacturing operations and while performing operational maintenance of mechanical equipment including hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems
  • Conduct performance evaluations for probationary employees
  • Supervise the Seamless Mill Quality Assurance Inspectors
  • Use quality standards to evaluate product conformance and troubleshoot quality issues promptly
  • Maintain and correct electronic and written records including shift performance, heat traceability, and quality assurance
  • Maintain KRONOS Pay System by reviewing, editing, and approving employee timecards daily
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of the collective bargaining agreements and applicable company policies
  • Coordinate truck and rail logistics
  • Work with vendor managed inspection groups to ensure smooth transfer of product
  • Work with shipping department and railroad to manage truck and rail transfers
  • Conduct pipe inventories as required, maintain records, and coordinate with accounting and planning groups to correct deficiencies
  • Perform other duties as they might be assigned
