Requirements

  • Active ISA Arborist certification
  • Educational background in forestry, horticulture, arboriculture, environmental studies, conservation, or related disciplines
  • Experience in forestry, horticulture, arboriculture, environmental studies, conservation, or related fields
  • Reside within 50 miles of Grass Valley, CA
  • Capable of utilizing computers and running reports/updating data in PG&E’s VMDSRs
  • Proficient with software applications such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections, audits, and monitor contractor performance
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate activities of assigned tree clearance crews
  • Serve as liaison between clients, tree crews, and customers
  • Resolve obstacles to ensure work completion in a safe, cost-effective, efficient, timely, and productive manner, including managing time and expenses
  • Manage day-to-day activities to keep personnel focused, verify scope achievement, equipment use, and documentation
  • Act as VM contact for new business and re-construction work
  • Approve scheduling and scope changes in the field with PG&E representative approval
  • Promote safety culture, perform/document Safety Observations and Good Catches, ensure compliance with safety rules
  • Audit work performed by VMIs for compliance
  • Assist with training and onboarding of VM Inspectors
  • Support PGE Work Verification team for timely addressing of observations
  • Maintain working relationships with public agencies (e.g., Caltrans, CalFire, USFS, BLM) and PG&E’s tree contractors
  • Patrol distribution or transmission circuits and prescribe tree pruning/tree/brush removal work
  • Assess trees for failure likelihood/hazards and determine next trim requirements
  • Identify and prescribe work for electric compliance tags (e.g., 540 tags) per regulatory/PG&E standards
  • Ensure work complies with PG&E Vegetation Management Standards/Procedures, permits, and jurisdictional requirements
  • Perform Quality Check audits on VMIs for field compliance and data integrity
  • Assist in outage investigations
  • Assist in local Divisional Operations as directed
