Candidates should have 5+ years of software development experience, with a proven track record of delivering large-scale, secure, highly available, low latency, high-quality systems. Deep technical expertise in hyper-scale distributed systems engineering, experience running production services in the cloud, and participation in on-call rotations are required. Expertise in cloud-native technology, including networking and security, prior experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure, and a strong understanding of cloud best practices are essential. The role also requires the ability to influence others through effective communication and collaboration, proven experience leading and mentoring technical teams, and strong prioritization skills. A BS degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent experience, is necessary, with an advanced degree being preferred.
The Senior Software Engineer II will contribute to key initiatives for the Stream Governance product, including critical services like Confluent Stream Catalog, Stream Lineage, and Data Portal. They will design and develop a cloud-native, multi-tenant service for Stream Governance, collaborating with the team and stakeholders. This role involves providing technical leadership, mentoring, and enabling the engineering team to tackle complex distributed data challenges at scale. Responsibilities include architecting complex engineering systems, partnering across engineering to execute roadmaps, evaluating and enhancing the platform's technology stack, and solving complicated technical projects with high quality. The engineer will also be responsible for developing, managing, and maintaining a mission-critical service with a 99.99 SLA across multiple cloud regions and enhancing the stability, performance, scalability, and operational excellence of critical systems.
