Requirements

Technical expertise in process control, including design, controls philosophy, implementation, and commissioning
Experience with DCS software design, coding/configuration, testing (sequence logic, graphics, batch software)
Proficiency in automation engineering, including design, tuning, and troubleshooting of system integration across platforms and sites
Knowledge of functional requirements, design specifications, test specifications, and FATs (Factory Acceptance Tests)
Ability to lead and oversee teams, including site area leads, system integrators, and automation engineers during commissioning
Skills in developing and implementing automation engineering project plans
Capability to devise functional requirements and process control strategies in collaboration with process engineering
Experience implementing and supporting electronic systems like plant historians for production data
Understanding of maintaining validated state of control systems per GMP and Lilly quality standards, including validation strategies and documentation
Mentoring and leadership abilities for process control teams

Responsibilities

Provide automation support for operating areas across site and/or capital projects
Ensure reliable and compliant control applications and systems in manufacturing
Mentor process control team on design, controls philosophy, implementation, and commissioning
Develop and implement the Automation Engineering Project Plan
Technically lead and oversee work of site area leads and system integrator, including functional requirements, design specifications, DCS application software, and test specifications
Lead/participate in design reviews, automation application software reviews, and attend equipment/software FATs
Lead a team of automation engineers supporting commissioning
Provide periodic status updates to project management
Devise functional requirements and process control strategies for control systems in collaboration with process engineering
Perform DCS software design, coding/configuration, and testing
Conduct automation engineering including design, tuning, and troubleshooting of system integration
Implement and support electronic systems (e.g., plant historians) for process automation data
Maintain validated state of site control systems per Lilly quality standards, including validation strategies and documentation
Provide automation support for capital projects, including new product introductions
Promote use of automation to improve productivity
