Requirements

  • Knowledge of California and federal employment laws, including wage & hour, EEO, FMLA, ADA, and other HR regulations

  • Ability to partner with internal/external counsel on compliance and sensitive matters
  • Strategic partnership skills with leadership on priorities like career ladders, compensation bands, performance/compensation philosophy, and hybrid work strategy

Responsibilities

  • Own and refine end-to-end onboarding process for seamless new hire experience
  • Manage onboarding/offboarding workflows and documentation via Sequoia One, including employment documents, background checks, and compliance forms
  • Manage offboarding process, including exit interviews, asset returns, and compliance documentation
  • Stay current with California/federal employment laws to ensure compliant company policies
  • Draft, update, and communicate HR policies, employee handbook, and process documentation
  • Provide guidance on employment regulations (wage & hour, EEO, FMLA, ADA)
  • Partner with counsel to interpret regulations, handle sensitive matters, and align policies/practices legally
  • Support compliance audits and reporting (e.g., EEO-1 filings)
  • Partner with leadership to design and drive employee programs: performance management, rewards & recognition, engagement initiatives
  • Evaluate and optimize HR technology stack
  • Act as strategic partner to leadership on career ladders, compensation bands, performance/compensation philosophy, hybrid work, and office strategy
