Requirements
Candidates should possess a High School Diploma or GED, with an applicable technical certification desired, and a minimum of 3-5 years of equivalent experience. They should demonstrate aptitude for close tolerance work, a high degree of quality and finish in their work, and strong mechanical aptitude capable of fabricating, assembling, and troubleshooting mechanisms and assemblies. Experience in plastic processes, specifically MIG inert gas welding (Hill-Rom certification), and familiarity with CMM devices and 3D scanners are also required.
Responsibilities
The Senior Model Shop Technician will contribute to the conceptualization, design, and development of new products across Baxter’s global R&D teams, completing complex tasks with minimal supervision and communicating effectively with various functional areas. They will safely utilize and operate a broad range of equipment, including milling machines, lathes, and welders, to create assemblies and prototype parts. This role involves creating DXF files for 2-axis machines, basic CAD knowledge, following safety rules and policies, working with engineers and customers to solve problems, performing machine maintenance, and applying new technical tools and concepts under guidance. Additionally, they will support global R&D efforts in the development of concept and rapid prototype model builds, and gain experience by doing and delivering without supervision while contributing positively to team actions.
