Position Overview

The Senior Member Relations Manager, reporting to the Director of Member Relations, will provide strategic advice to assigned member colleges and universities. This role also involves taking a leadership position within the Member Relations team, focusing on specific member sectors such as community colleges, regional state systems, or institutions admitting the majority of their applicants. The position requires advanced technical expertise and acts as a subject matter expert for these higher education sectors. Additionally, the Senior Member Relations Manager will coach and mentor team members, serve as an escalation point, and manage relationships with assigned member institutions throughout the application year.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic advice and best practices to assigned member colleges and universities regarding the configuration of the application platform.
  • Guide members on leveraging the full portfolio of Common App programs and services.
  • Share industry trends and pertinent information with member institutions.
  • Ensure a smooth experience for member institutions throughout the application year.
  • Act as a designated subject matter expert for specific higher education sectors.
  • Serve as a coach and mentor to the Member Relations team.
  • Act as an escalation point for complex issues.
  • Perform tasks related to the configuration of school-specific requirements within the application platform.

Requirements

  • Location: Must reside in the United States.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel for twice-annual Common App Retreats.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or higher from a four-year college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience:
    • 3-5 years of successful, progressive experience in account management, customer service, management, project management, or communications.
    • Progressive customer service/account management experience.
    • Experience in college recruitment or admissions.
    • Experience in one or more of the following higher education sectors: community colleges, regional state systems, institutions that admit the majority of their applicants, institutions serving a significant number of transfer or independent students.
  • Skills:
    • Advanced Technical Skills: Demonstrates mastery of core technical skills and uses them effectively.
    • Critical Thinking: Ability to analyze problems, identify patterns, and propose innovative solutions.
    • Initiative: Takes ownership of tasks and seeks opportunities to contribute beyond assigned responsibilities.
    • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication and listening skills, including the ability to present and respond to questions from diverse audiences, internal and external, in a positive and concise manner.
    • Organizational Skills: Outstanding organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and the ability to successfully prioritize and manage multiple projects and processes simultaneously.
    • Learning Agility: Ability to quickly learn new technology and communicate technical concepts to different audiences with attention to detail.
    • Understanding of organizational structure, products, and services.
