Requirements

Strong analytical capabilities with extensive modelling experience
Ability to understand market fundamentals and key developments in the base oils market and its interaction with oil products
Established knowledge of the refining/base oils interface (highly recommended)
Knowledge of base oils economics, gained from experience with a key industry player or research/consultancy organization (advantage)
Understanding of shifting dynamics within the transportation segment and its impact on base oil supply/demand (preferable)
Degree in engineering, environmental sciences, or other relevant science discipline (preferably chemical engineering), with a Masters/MBA
Experience working in project teams and ability to work effectively across culturally diverse teams
Excellent analytical, verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal skills
Strong initiative and willingness to learn in an information business environment
Skilled in Microsoft Office, with emphasis on Excel & PowerPoint, and willingness to learn new applications
Knowledge of modelling methods (advantage)
Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Python, C++, SQL) highly desirable
Ability to present and communicate ideas and solutions to clients
Ability to rationalize, solve, and communicate answers to complex problems

Responsibilities

Research and analysis of base oils markets (emphasis on Group I/II/III), tracking project investments and closures for contribution to company database
Forecast demand/market fundamentals across base oils, building on established methodology and models
Develop and update base oil price forecasts using the above analysis
Closely monitor and assess impact of new or imminent regulatory changes on the base oils market
Support lead analyst in client relationships
Contribute to thought leadership across the base oils sector over the long term
