Position Overview

Octopus Energy Services is at the forefront of the renewable energy revolution, installing low-carbon technologies like Smart Meters, Solar PV, EV chargers, and Heat Pumps in homes across the UK. We are seeking a Senior Manager, Learning & Skills (Programmes) to build and shape our learning and upskilling programmes, particularly in leadership and performance. This role is crucial for developing the talent that delivers our products and services as we rapidly scale our operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end development, delivery, and continuous improvement of critical learning and upskilling programmes, ensuring alignment with performance outcomes.
  • Collaborate with leaders and subject matter experts to identify learning needs and skills gaps, and to scope and gain buy-in for targeted learning programmes.
  • Lead programme teams comprising learning design, digital learning, and delivery expertise to develop, deliver, and maintain relevant learning solutions.
  • Manage project plans, communications, and stakeholder updates regarding programme progress and outcomes.
  • Shape and execute learning & skills strategies and plans that align with business goals, developing business cases for ongoing investment.
  • Evaluate learning efficacy, measure ROI, and assess the impact on performance.
  • Stay ahead of demand by integrating insights from learning and tech innovation into future solutions.
  • Adopt a skills-first approach, using skills data to inform learning priorities, measure impact, and foster a culture of upskilling and agile workforce development.

Requirements

  • Expertise and experience in shaping and delivering impactful learning and performance strategies and programmes.
  • Proven ability to manage plans, budgets, and utilize data for decision-making.
  • Track record of leading cross-functional project teams to deliver and evaluate blended learning and upskilling programmes.
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles, leadership and management development, and performance practices.
  • Demonstrable experience in shaping and delivering leadership programmes.
  • Comfortable learning about technical skills, even without a background in all technical areas.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams at all levels.
  • Curious, comfortable working in high-ambiguity, fast-paced environments, driving clarity and decisions, and embracing a test-and-learn approach.
  • Empathetic leadership style, capable of building trusted relationships across the business.
  • Flexibility to travel to different offices and sites as needed.

Location & Travel

  • This role is remote.
  • Regular travel to sites across the UK (primarily England and Wales) is required.
