Requirements

The Senior Informatics Sales Specialist must possess strong genomics and Informatics technical knowledge and expertise, with a primary focus on Illumina’s enterprise products. Experience in selling Next Generation Sequencing and Genomic data analysis pipelines, applications, and products is required. The role demands the ability to engage effectively with C-level executives, business development executives, IT leaders, architects, developers, and bioinformaticians. Expertise in areas such as laboratory notebooks, data science (including AI and Machine Learning), genomics applications and methods, cloud-based workflows and pipelines, Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), and NGS data analysis, management, sharing, and storage is essential. Familiarity with analysis, annotation, interpretation, and reporting from NGS testing in a clinical environment is also necessary. The position requires the ability to consult with customers on informatics requirements, including hardware and software for data analysis, and to provide proof-of-concept/proof-of-principle analysis. Partnering with third-party providers for end-to-end solutions and working closely with other sales team members, including account managers and sequencing specialists, is also a key requirement.

Responsibilities

The Senior Informatics Sales Specialist will drive customer adoption and utilization of Informatics products to achieve sales growth. This involves providing technical guidance and subject matter expertise throughout the sales cycle, acting as an influencer and expert resource for customers and colleagues. The specialist will establish Illumina as a prominent cloud-based enterprise platform provider in the Research, Clinical, Pharma, PopGen, and Healthcare sectors. Responsibilities include consulting with customers on informatics requirements, providing proof-of-concept analysis, and partnering with third-party providers to deliver comprehensive solutions. The role involves close collaboration with other sales team members to ensure customer success in Bioinformatics and NGS data analysis. Additionally, the specialist will develop, coordinate, and conduct informatics presentations and seminars, potentially including demos and proof-of-concept work, and involve other technical roles as needed. Providing Voice of Customer input to development and marketing teams, becoming a sub-regional subject matter expert for Informatics, training the broader sales organization, and assisting customers in overcoming informatics barriers to unlock sample volume and drive sales are also key responsibilities. Preparing and presenting sales performance data and developing and managing a robust pipeline of opportunities are also part of the role, along with contributing to annual strategic account management planning.
