Twelve is a new kind of chemical company built for the climate era. Our breakthrough technology eliminates emissions by turning CO2 into essential products. We are a team of scientists, engineers, and problem solvers on a mission to fundamentally shift the way the world addresses climate change and lead the transition to a fossil-free future with our carbon transformation technology.

This role seeks a highly skilled and experienced Senior Engineering Director to lead and oversee all key aspects of engineering, quality, and Asset Data Management for plant design, execution, and operations. This includes overall coordination with Twelve’s functions, leadership, and managing/overseeing the performance of our Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor teams. We are looking for candidates who are eager to contribute their expertise in leading design and engineering efforts to support cost-effective gas-to-Liquid projects, with particular emphasis on Jet Fuel projects.

The position will manage a team of engineers and will lead the design and engineering efforts through the project lifecycle, spanning various engineering disciplines (process, civil, mechanical, structural, piping, electrical, control systems, etc.). The position is accountable for the quality assurance and the overall Asset Data Management of multiple projects. The person in this role will be a critical cross-functional partner coordinating the involvement of Twelve’s engineering team, internal sponsors (such as technology development, manufacturing, business development teams), project managers, and external partners (such as Independent Engineers, Equipment Suppliers, Engineering Firms (EPCs), Construction Contractors and Utilities companies). The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting conceptual engineering activities, selecting appropriate technologies, optimizing process systems & designs all the way to assisted operations. It’s a plus to have a good understanding of Sustainable Air Fuels businesses/design and the various licensors, technology players, and their applicability for various business solutions. This role is remote with regular travel required.

  • Experience with EPC contractor management.
  • Understanding of Sustainable Air Fuels business and technology.
  • Ability to translate strategy into a direction and work plan for the project team.

Responsibilities

  • Translate strategy into a direction and work plan for the project team.
  • Enable capital-efficient delivery and lowest lifecycle costs of assets with technical integrity to meet project business objectives.
  • Develop and maintain project KPIs and provide transparent and accurate stewardship of project status to appropriate levels of Twelve leadership.
  • Establish the technical baseline and requirements for the projects, including: engineering deliverables, technical standards, specifications, class of plant, design criteria, procedures, guidelines, and process safety requirements.
  • Develop and determine the adequate level of engineering scope in an increasingly complex business environment for the Engineering, Quality, and Asset Data Management teams.
  • Coordinate the involvement of Twelve’s engineering team, internal sponsors, project managers, and external partners (Independent Engineers, Equipment Suppliers, Engineering Firms (EPCs), Construction Contractors and Utilities companies).
  • Conduct conceptual engineering activities and select appropriate technologies.

Twelve

Converts CO2 into sustainable products

About Twelve

Twelve focuses on transforming carbon dioxide (CO2) into valuable products that are usually derived from fossil fuels. The company uses a process that mimics industrial photosynthesis, combining CO2, water, and renewable energy to produce hydrocarbons, which serve as the foundation for various materials and fuels. This method significantly lowers lifecycle emissions by up to 90% compared to traditional production techniques and aims to eliminate reliance on fossil fuels. Twelve differentiates itself from competitors by licensing its unique technology to industrial partners and collaborating on projects to scale its solutions. The company's goal is to contribute to a circular carbon economy by turning CO2 into useful products, thereby addressing environmental issues and supply chain challenges.
