Requirements

  • Technical expertise in architecture, design management, problem solving, and QA/QC for projects including attractions, shops, hotels, entertainment, maintenance facilities, and offices
  • Experience acting as Owner’s Representative managing external Architects/Engineers/Consultants to ensure designs meet Disney standards, coordination with disciplines, and code compliance
  • Ability to lead design teams, coordinate with facilities, engineering, and Imagineering disciplines, and update project partners/stakeholders
  • Proficiency in preliminary research, facility assessments, conceptual design coordination, review of construction documents, contract administration, and immediate response efforts
  • Knowledge of project management including developing scopes of work, RFPs, cost estimates, budgets, schedules, and meeting coordination
  • Expertise in reviewing drawings/specifications for codes, standards, statutes, constructability, efficiency, maintainability, and integration with infrastructure, engineering disciplines, etc
  • Experience partnering with internal teams on Disney design guidelines, standards, master specifications, and details
  • Ability to provide guidance, decision matrices, leverage lessons learned, and influence architectural direction
  • Skills in liaising with city officials/external agencies, coordinating plan check responses, constructability issues, RFIs, submittals, feedback, punch walks, and closeout documentation

Responsibilities

  • Review project concepts with internal stakeholders and partners
  • Determine team required to fully execute project
  • Develop project scopes of work and create RFPs for external Architects/Engineers/Consultants
  • Coordinate with Facility Assessment Management (FAM) partners to review scope, schedule, and budgets
  • Provide internal cost estimates for project support and review budget throughout the project schedule
  • Manage design and development of project construction drawings and specifications with internal/external resources
  • Coordinate schedule, meeting agendas, and participants during design phase to drive results
  • Lead design reviews and meetings throughout the design process
  • Review drawings and specifications at each design milestone for compliance with codes, standards, and statutes
  • Ensure overall project design intent by integrating facility design with partner disciplines and supporting development components
  • Review for scope completeness focusing on constructability, efficiency, and long-term maintainability
  • Update stakeholders on all project developments throughout design and construction
  • Partner with internal teams to develop, maintain, communicate, and enforce Walt Disney Company design guidelines, standards, master specifications, and details
  • Provide guidance and concise decision matrices to support executive decisions
  • Leverage technical expertise and lessons learned when reviewing all projects
  • Act as liaison with city officials and external agencies for coordination and compliance
  • Coordinate responses to city plan check comments and questions with AOR/EOR
  • Coordinate constructability issues with project partners
  • Coordinate responses to all RFIs and submittals with AOR/EOR
  • Coordinate all internal team member feedback with AOR/EOR/GC
  • Provide punch walk feedback and gather all project documentation for closeout
  • Influence architectural direction of the Walt Disney Company
  • Develop varied facility design project work at all stages from concept, feasibility, or schematic design through preparation
