Requirements

  • Adheres to FVC/FMCNA Compliance Program, regulatory requirements, and FVC/FMS policies
  • Supports and drives FVC quality standards through regulatory compliance, Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), and use of FVC/FMS CQI tools
  • Accountable for outstanding quality of patient care as defined by FVC quality goals
  • Maintains competency with all emergency operational procedures, including CPR and emergency measures
  • Complies with all data collection, auditing activities, and facility policies for documentation, orders, consents, and lab work
  • Practices in compliance with FVC, company, federal, state, and local regulations for medication administration, IV moderate sedation, point-of-care testing, and additional physician-directed tasks
  • Maintains sterile technique when acting as scrub technologist
  • Operates facility equipment (e.g., patient monitors, defibrillators, sterilizers, computers) safely and efficiently, and reports malfunctions/maintenance needs

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct nursing care pre, during, and post-procedure under direction of Facility Manager/Charge RN, utilizing standard nursing techniques to assist physician
  • Assists with implementation of FVC quality goals and facility-specific action plans
  • Addresses and acts on adverse events/action thresholds in collaboration with facility management
  • Maintains integrity of medical records and facility environmental integrity/safety
  • Obtains medical history, performs nursing assessment, discusses procedure, answers questions, and provides education on post-procedure vascular access care
  • Monitors patient condition before, during, and after procedure, especially for moderate sedation/contrast media reactions/complications
  • Acts as patient resource for concerns/questions and communicates issues to facility management
  • Completes accurate documentation from admission to discharge
  • Confirms/prepares written orders, consents, lab requisitions; delivers labs and forwards results to physicians
  • Administers medications/IV moderate sedation per physician orders
  • Assists physician during procedure as scrub technologist
  • Transports patients, performs IV insertions, and point-of-care lab testing per orders
  • Performs additional physician-designated tasks
  • Provides regular/effective communication with physicians, attends CQI meetings, reports on topics
  • Assists with verifying instruments/equipment and completing/reporting adverse events
