Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field required
  • Metallurgy, material science, chemistry or chemical engineering degree preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in quality engineering
  • Lean and/or Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred or 2-3 years of Continuous Improvement experience
  • Project Management experience preferred (2-3 years)
  • Experience and knowledge of manufacturing systems, the quality function and technical products preferred
  • Experience with calibration, metrology and quality system auditing beneficial
  • Export compliance eligibility (U.S. citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, asylee/refugee, or eligible for export license)

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the Quality Manager to maintain requirements for the Quality Management System
  • Drive process quality improvements working with Process Engineering through implementation of automated process controls, SPC, sampling systems, enhanced manufacturing procedures and utilization of statistical techniques
  • Audit process controls implemented for compliance
  • Serve as project leader for Problem Solving Processes (8D, 5 Why, 7D, etc.) to resolve Customer complaints, Customer audit findings or Return Material Authorizations in a timely manner that prevents reoccurrence
  • Direct failure analysis, root cause analysis and corrective actions; review complaints to ensure identified root cause/corrective and preventative actions are effective
  • Serve as project leader for continuous improvement teams utilizing Six Sigma & Lean techniques that improve key metrics (Cost of Quality, Customer Complaint metrics, Yield) and Supplier Quality
  • Standardize the calibration of inspection and test equipment (e.g., micrometers, calipers, depth gages)
  • Coordinate equipment calibration from outside sources
  • Maintain calibration database and ensure on-time performance of scheduled calibration
