Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline is required, along with a minimum of 12 years of Quality Engineering experience in a regulated manufacturing industry. A strong technical background in automation and material handling equipment deployment is essential, as is experience with quality management concepts, tools, and methods such as FMEA, DOE, MSA, and F. The candidate must possess the ability to understand product applications and use environments to strategically apply technical knowledge, tools, and methodologies for driving product quality, and demonstrate a collaborative nature with the ability to influence across organizational lanes at Symbotic, suppliers, and customers.

Responsibilities

The Principal Site Quality Engineer will provide quality leadership and support to installation sites, focusing on identifying and resolving issues through structured quality methods. This role involves analyzing data from Symbotic site installations to pinpoint systemic issues affecting quality, efficiency, and scalability, and determining the top issues to address while evaluating the effectiveness of implemented changes. Responsibilities include performing statistical analysis of quality data, leading problem resolution efforts, and disseminating status and findings across the organization. The engineer will drive the Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) process cross-functionally using 8-D methodology to ensure permanent resolution of quality issues and prevent recurrence. This includes assembling and leading cross-functional teams for defect analysis, communicating issues across operations for closed-loop resolution, and utilizing Six Sigma and Lean methods for quality and process improvements. The role also entails driving data analysis of major performance concerns at sites, setting up and using dashboards to communicate status and drive partners, suppliers, and vendors in executing the quality system, and providing leadership to site quality personnel for efficient execution of quality SOPs.
