Candidates should ideally hold a degree or equivalent in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related discipline and have experience working in the food industry in a Quality Assurance/Control or technical role. Experience and knowledge of BRCGS and participating in audits, along with HACCP and Food Safety Qualifications, are required. An auditing qualification and experience, along with a current, valid driving license, are also necessary. The ability to travel within the UK and overseas is essential.
The Quality Assurance Specialist will ensure product testing schedules are adhered to, record and analyze results, and escalate any out-of-specification results to support investigations. They will also ensure environmental monitoring, allergen, and water testing are carried out, investigate out-of-spec results, and support external audits by preparing documentation and conducting traceability exercises. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company policies through internal auditing, identifying quality and food safety issues, implementing corrective and preventative actions, communicating quality concerns to the operations team, providing training on Food Safety and Quality procedures, conducting environmental swabbing and trending results, and actively participating in site meetings and quality projects.
