Requirements

HS Diploma or equivalent preferred
Minimum of 1 year of prior experience in related manufacturing operation; filling or loading experience preferred
Strong background in gas, welding, and safety supply industry or chemical industry preferred
Ability to complete training and achieve certifications for filling all cryogenic liquids and pure industrial gases
Ability to complete FDA, Food Grade, and CGMP Training and achieve certifications
Must be able to operate forklift and maintain appropriate forklift certifications
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to read and comprehend material safety data sheets
Must be able to work with a wide variety of people with different personalities and backgrounds
Excellent customer service skills
Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines
Strong level of attention to detail
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages
Ability to safely operate a forklift

Responsibilities

Safely handling and filling gas products into liquid, medical, and high-pressure gas cylinders in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and meeting standard operating procedures of Airgas
Performing various duties in the plant, including monitoring equipment to fill industrial gas mixes, cryogenic gases, and medical gas products, and performing both level 1 & 2 duties
Inspecting cylinders prior to filling, following standard procedures as required by government, Airgas, and distributor standards
Conducting a variety of safety checks per procedures, such as odor tests and checking caps and valves
Analyzing products for purity and correct mixtures
Handling high-pressure, medical, and liquid cylinders
Preparing high-pressure cylinders and cryogenic vessels for filling; attaching to the manifold and evacuating cylinders to eliminate all possible contaminants
Filling cylinders by pressure and weight, per regulations and standards
Assisting with the loading and unloading of cylinders on and off pallets and tractor trailers
Operating a forklift, pallet jack, and other warehouse equipment
Managing paperwork to DOT, FDA, OSHA, and Airgas standards; completing quality control sheets as required
Understanding hazards of various gases, sizes, and contents of cylinders by reading and interpreting cylinder labels and the color-coding of tanks; accurately labeling cylinders
Compliance with all government and company standards for safely handling hazardous materials/cylinder gases
Maintaining a neat, clean, and orderly plant appearance
Performing any reasonable work request that falls within the qualifications but not specifically described
