Requirements

  • Experience in payments technology, gateways, or commerce platforms
  • Ability to manage vendor relationships and performance (SLAs, escalations, QBRs)
  • Skills in contract negotiation, commercial terms, pricing models, and incentives
  • Knowledge of monitoring metrics like approval rates, decline rates, latency, and payment routing
  • Expertise in product roadmap definition, integration strategy, and feature adoption (e.g., tokenisation, fraud tools, alternative payment methods)
  • Capability to translate partner capabilities into customer-facing features and internal efficiencies
  • Experience working cross-functionally with product, scheme leads, technology, finance, legal, and sales teams
  • Understanding of industry developments, scheme mandates, and partner roadmaps

Responsibilities

  • Serve as vendor relationship owner and primary point of contact for third-party payment gateways
  • Own vendor performance reviews, SLAs, escalations, and roadmap alignment
  • Conduct regular business reviews (QBRs) to track KPIs, feature rollout, and compliance
  • Build processes to monitor approval rates, decline rates, latency, and payment routing performance
  • Partner with scheme lead roles and finance to negotiate commercial terms, pricing models, and incentives with payment partners
  • Ensure contract terms reflect operational and technical requirements (e.g., uptime SLAs, dispute handling)
  • Define roadmap and requirements for gateway integrations and payment partner feature adoption
  • Translate partner capabilities into customer-facing features or internal efficiencies
  • Work with sales team as subject matter expert to onboard customers to new features
  • Translate partner roadmaps, API enhancements, and industry developments into internal product requirements and opportunities
  • Proactively identify and advocate for product enhancements based on partner capabilities or industry shifts (e.g., launching click-to-pay)
  • Flag partner limitations (e.g., sunset activity) that may impact existing features or expansion plans
  • Work with product, scheme leads, and finance teams to factor gateway pricing models and contract terms into pricing models and business cases
