Requirements

  • J.D. degree (or equivalent) and active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
  • 4–8 years of relevant legal experience, ideally including both law firm and in-house product counseling
  • Experience advising on technology, SaaS, platform, or fintech products
  • Strong knowledge of at least one of the following: privacy/data protection laws, consumer protection, employment law, payments, or IP
  • Excellent judgment with the ability to balance legal risk with business objectives
  • Exceptional communication skills, able to work seamlessly with technical and non-technical teams
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • Preferred Skills (Not Required)
  • Prior in-house counsel experience at a startup or high-growth tech company
  • Experience with international product launches and global regulatory frameworks
  • Familiarity with restaurant, hospitality, or payroll/HR industries (if relevant)

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary legal advisor to Product and Engineering teams from ideation to launch
  • Proactively identify and address legal issues in product design, feature development, and customer implementation
  • Draft, review, and negotiate product-related terms in customer, vendor, and partner agreements
  • Monitor and interpret applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards (e.g., privacy, data protection, consumer protection, payments, labor compliance)
  • Build scalable processes to ensure legal compliance while enabling product velocity
  • Partner with Privacy and Security teams to implement best practices in data handling and governance
  • Create and deliver training for internal stakeholders on product-related legal considerations
  • Track and respond to regulatory changes that may impact products or services
