Candidates should have 5+ years of post-bar admittance legal experience with significant healthcare regulatory expertise, particularly in health technology, product design, and privacy. A deep understanding of multi-state healthcare regulations such as HIPAA and telehealth in evolving regulatory environments is essential. Experience serving as a trusted advisor to Product, Operations, and/or Compliance teams in a healthcare technology environment is required. Proven ability to translate complex healthcare regulatory requirements into clear, actionable guidance for non-legal stakeholders, a track record of balancing compliance obligations with business objectives in fast-paced organizations, and strong communication skills with political savvy are also necessary. A JD from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing, with the ability to register as NY in-house counsel, are mandatory.
The Counsel, Regulatory and Privacy will serve as an embedded regulatory thought partner to Product and Operations teams, providing real-time guidance on privacy (HIPAA, state law), artificial intelligence, and clinical regulatory implications for product development. They will partner with Compliance and Privacy teams on policy development, audit response, and remediation strategies, offering legal interpretation of healthcare regulations. This role involves translating complex healthcare regulations into practical guidance and tools for Product and Operations teams, anticipating regulatory challenges, and proactively developing solutions that enable business objectives while facilitating compliance. Additionally, the Counsel will build strong relationships across teams to position regulatory guidance as a business enabler.
