Requirements

Candidates should have 8+ years of product management experience, with at least 5 years focused on data, analytics, or business intelligence products. Proven experience managing both customer-facing data products and internal BI/analytics platforms is required. A deep understanding of the modern data stack, including data warehousing, ETL/ELT processes, data modeling, and data governance, is essential. The role also requires extensive experience with BI tools like Tableau or Looker and a highly collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

The Principal Product Manager will own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for Newsela's entire Data Products portfolio, including customer-facing reporting and internal business intelligence. This includes leading the product lifecycle for customer-facing analytics, partnering with engineering to build intuitive reports and visualizations, and defining the strategy for internal business intelligence on platform engagement metrics. The role involves championing a self-service data culture by building dashboards, acting as a data evangelist for the product organization, and collaborating closely with the Platform Data team to ensure data architecture supports product roadmaps.
