Previous experience working in a kitchen environment is preferred but not required. A basic understanding of food safety and sanitation practices is necessary. Candidates should have the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and possess strong attention to detail and accuracy in food preparation. Good communication and teamwork skills are essential, along with physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects. A willingness to learn and take direction from kitchen supervisors is also required.
As a Restaurant Prep Cook, you will ensure all ingredients are prepared, organized, and ready for use on the kitchen line. You will receive, inspect, and organize all incoming ingredients, wash, peel, chop, dice, and slice various ingredients according to recipes and kitchen standards. You will prepare and cook ingredients such as vegetables, meats, and sauces according to specified recipes and portion sizes. Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the prep area, including equipment, utensils, and workstations, is crucial. You will assist in maintaining sufficient levels of food stock and supplies by monitoring inventory and notifying the kitchen manager of any shortages. Adhering to proper food safety and sanitation guidelines is essential, as is effective communication and collaboration with all kitchen team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely dish preparation. You will need to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and be adaptable to changing priorities in the kitchen.
