Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
  • Demonstrate personality traits such as accuracy, initiative, judgment, originality, and attention to detail
  • Demonstrate qualities of leadership and the ability to plan for, coordinate, and direct the activities of and work with individuals and groups engaged in engineering and technical activities
  • Pass the minimum physical requirements as prescribed by Eversource, including corrective vision, normal color perception, hearing, and a sense of smell
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license to operate motor vehicles
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain Eversource qualification to operate motor vehicles of any class and type required by the company based on departmental needs
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations outside of normal responsibilities, work hours, and location

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine calibration and testing of substation equipment, network equipment, distribution equipment, and communication systems utilized on the Eversource system
  • Conduct minor troubleshooting and repairs
  • Direct, perform, and take responsibility for routine calibration and testing assignments under general supervision, requiring thorough knowledge of rules, regulations, procedures, and company engineering practices
  • Demonstrate proficiency in diverse phases of the company’s engineering or technical activities related to design, construction, operations, utilization, inspection, testing, and maintenance of equipment, apparatus, structures, and safety procedures
  • Direct and instruct other Power Systems Technicians assisting in assignments and others as directed
  • Coordinate work activities effectively with employees of other departments, representatives of consulting firms, municipalities, manufacturers, customers, and contractors
  • Ensure safe, efficient, and productive performance of the work
  • Ensure all proper tools, equipment, and materials are available for job assignments and are utilized properly, including returns to inventory
