Requirements

  • Eligible to work in the US without GM immigration sponsorship (no H-1B, OPT, STEM OPT, CPT, TN, J-1, etc.)
  • Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement, reporting to Mountain View, CA, Detroit, MI, or Washington D.C. at least three times per week
  • Professional, poised demeanor with good judgment for interacting with external stakeholders, community organizations, public policy, safety, sustainability, and innovation/growth teams
  • Experience or capability to work in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Lead the execution of GM’s Road Safety Social Impact Pillar, driving philanthropic investments with national scope and community impact
  • Research and analyze the road safety landscape to refine giving strategy
  • Identify and solicit prospective nonprofit grantees
  • Review and process grant applications
  • Cultivate and foster signature partnerships within the portfolio
  • Monitor funded projects, progress toward impact, and manage grant reporting
  • Develop pillar-specific progress and impact dashboards and reports
  • Coordinate logistics for sponsored events and/or partner activations
  • Responsibly manage a multi-million-dollar annual budget
  • Maintain global knowledge of philanthropy and road safety benchmarking trends
  • Serve as a road safety philanthropy subject matter expert for the company
  • Integrate local giving philanthropy into larger corporate citizenship strategies
  • Leverage CyberGrants system to receive and evaluate grant applications
  • Build and manage relationships among grant partners
  • Develop and maintain supplemental documents and budget for giving initiatives
  • Manage responses to general inquiries and grant application status with external organizations in a timely manner
  • Assist with production and quality control of outgoing work products (briefings, plans, budgets, communications materials, surveys, RFPs, presentations); draft, edit, and format Word, Excel, and PowerPoint outputs
  • Work on short-term and ongoing projects with GM teams (safety, public policy, sustainability, innovation and growth)
  • Help plan, prepare for, and run stakeholder working sessions on strategy development and implementation
  • Develop portfolio communication strategy/roadmap to highlight social investments and activations
  • Write programmatic overviews and develop reports for various leadership levels
  • Work with GM communications team to draft speeches and internal/external stories
  • Serve as an internal and external road safety philanthropy spokesperson
  • Collaborate with other portfolio leads to leverage work across the grantmaking portfolio
  • Collaborate with employee volunteerism team to develop and post employee engagement opportunities related to grant activations
  • Function as a point of contact for, and prioritize ongoing tasks related to the road safety grantmaking portfolio
  • Collaborate with product and brand teams to support their priorities and programs
  • Partner with Data & Analytics team to integrate the company’s local giving efforts
