Position Overview

Tonal is transforming home fitness through intelligent digital resistance. We are seeking a clinically grounded Physical Therapist with significant experience across cash-pay and insurance environments, as well as product development experience to help shape how Tonal supports musculoskeletal recovery. This contract role will be within the Tonal Healthcare Strategy team, utilizing clinical expertise to shape product, go-to-market, insurance, and reimbursement strategies—ensuring Tonal aligns with real-world Physical Therapy workflows and lays the groundwork for future medical-grade validation.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT)
  • 5+ years in outpatient rehab
  • Experience in digital health, product development, or clinical innovation
  • Deep familiarity with HIPAA, CPT codes, EMRs, and billing workflows
  • Strong communicator with the ability to connect clinical needs to product goals

Responsibilities

  • Jobs-To-Be-Done (JTBD) & Workflow Mapping:
    • Map key JTBD and workflows for Physical Therapists in multiple environments (cash-pay, insurance, hospital networks, stand-alone clinics).
    • Define core JTBD, pain points, and Tonal applications that support clinic adoption.
  • Pilot Feedback & Product Recommendations:
    • Participate in regular data collection exercises (verbal and written) across 5 active pilot clinics.
    • Analyze clinician feedback and deliver monthly insights.
    • Recommend prioritized product enhancements aligned with clinical value and feasibility.
  • Reimbursement & HIPAA Roadmap:
    • Define CPT billing pathways (e.g., 97530, 97110, 97750, 97112) and documentation needs.
    • Outline EMR integration, supervision rules, and ICD/CPT pairings.
    • Specify HIPAA compliance requirements for use in clinical settings.
  • Strategy & GTM Support:
    • Participate in workshops to shape market entry.
    • Advise on pricing tiers, product features, and competitive positioning.
    • Submit 2 strategic memos to guide GTM and product strategy.
