Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License (required where off-site specimen collections are a function of the position)

Responsibilities

  • Supervises daily operations of the Laboratory Collecting and Receiving department, including customer service, staffing, scheduling, and workflow
  • Collects and processes patient specimens in conformance with all laboratory regulatory requirements
  • Performs activities related to laboratory testing
  • Supports department operations in staff scheduling, training, competency, procedure drafts, and evaluation of new products
  • Supervises daily workflow of the department and identifies and implements improvement opportunities
  • Provides outstanding customer service through effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrates, coaches, and provides technical expertise to staff, students, and trainees
  • Acts as liaison between staff and manager
  • Assumes responsibility in the absence of Manager or Director
  • Communicates customer-specific clinical instructions to ensure specimen integrity
  • Performs clerical functions as required
  • Acts as a resource to all hospital departments on behalf of the corporate Laboratory
