Requirements

Minimum of two years’ experience as a phlebotomist
Outstanding oral communication skills
Demonstrated customer service skills
Ability to work in stressful environments
Good time management
High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of a phlebotomy training course or equivalent
Valid Driver’s License (required where off-site specimen collections are a function of the position)

Responsibilities

Supervises daily operations of the Laboratory Collecting and Receiving department, including customer service, staffing, scheduling, and workflow
Collects and processes patient specimens in conformance with all laboratory regulatory requirements
Performs activities related to laboratory testing
Supports department operations in staff scheduling, training, competency, procedure drafts, and evaluation of new products
Supervises daily workflow of the department and identifies and implements improvement opportunities
Provides outstanding customer service through effective communication and interpersonal skills
Demonstrates, coaches, and provides technical expertise to staff, students, and trainees
Acts as liaison between staff and manager
Assumes responsibility in the absence of Manager or Director
Communicates customer-specific clinical instructions to ensure specimen integrity
Performs clerical functions as required
Acts as a resource to all hospital departments on behalf of the corporate Laboratory
