Requirements

Entry-level position; no prior experience required as it is a paid Pharmacy Technician-In-Training role
Participate in and complete Avera Health's accredited Pharmacy Technician Education Program
Ability to work varied shifts, including rotating days/evenings/nights/weekends/holidays (specific to department)

Responsibilities

Assist in drug preparation
Assist in drug storage
Assist in drug distribution
Assist in inventory management within a variety of pharmacy environments (inpatient, outpatient, specialty, retail, long-term care, home infusion, compounding)
Medication distribution to clinics and critical access hospitals
Repackaging medications into unit dose forms
Non-hazardous/hazardous sterile compounding
Effectively communicate with nursing staff, providers, patients, and co-workers
Inventory management
Dispensing
Handle phones (inbound and outbound)
Shipping
Data entry
Direct patient care (in retail pharmacy)
Collaboration with other healthcare team members (nurses, case management, social work, doctors)
Drug packaging/shipping
