Position Overview

Remote is seeking a highly motivated and analytical Payroll Specialist Lead to join our Global Payroll Operations Team. This role is crucial in ensuring the compliant and efficient management of payroll for our Australian operations. You will act as a subject matter expert, manage key stakeholder relationships, and drive process improvements within a fully remote, globally distributed team.

What you bring

  • In-house payroll management or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of payroll best practices.
  • Proficiency in using software tools such as SAP, Excel, or Google Sheets.
  • An analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, international work environment with a passion for making an impact.
  • A productivity-driven approach with a constant drive for improvement and efficiency.
  • Understanding of and ability to work largely asynchronously.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
  • Previous experience working remotely is considered a plus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a subject matter expert for payroll in Australia.
  • Manage existing relationships with key stakeholders in Payroll Implementation, Finance, Product, and Engineering.
  • Process full end-to-end payroll, including statutory filing requirements, exceptions, approvals, payments, and compliance.
  • Ensure full data integrity and quality.
  • Perform accounting and reconciliations.
  • Focus on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Implement and improve payroll processes.
  • Mentor and support other payroll specialists.
  • Provide backup support to regional managers during absences.

Salary & Compensation

  • Base Salary Range: $65,500 USD to $73,000 USD (for this full-time position).
  • Compensation Philosophy: Remote's Total Rewards philosophy ensures fair, unbiased compensation and equitable pay, along with competitive benefits across all operating locations. We are committed to paying above in-location rates and do not endorse cheap-labor practices.
  • Salary Context: Our salary bands are wide due to international operations and a globally distributed workforce. Geo ranges are used to account for geographic pay differentials, ensuring competitiveness in various markets.
  • Factors Influencing Pay: The actual base pay is determined by role, level, location, transferable skills, work experience, relevant training, business needs, and market demands. Salary ranges are subject to change.
  • Internal Mobility: Remote fosters internal mobility for employee growth and development, supported by a compensation philosophy that guarantees pay equity. All compensation changes for internal moves are reviewed by the Total Rewards & People Enablement team.
