High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
One to three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Bi-lingual experience preferred but not required
Willingness to work primarily days with night, weekend, and holiday on-call involvement
Flexibility to pick up shifts on short notice and fill in for admissions when needed

Responsibilities

Assists in managerial responsibilities (interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems)
Maintains good working knowledge of patient access modules and serves as the training resource to staff for patient access modules
Coordinates implementation of new enhancements or releases in the patient access modules
Assists with the scheduling and staffing needs of the department
Provides exceptional customer service skills, including smiling, welcoming attitude, engaging guests, and making a great first impression on employees, visitors, patients, business representatives, and the general public
Ensures staff collect appropriate patient payments for services
Reviews staff work for accuracy and completeness and follows up on any issues noted
Coordinates and works with other departments to provide a smooth, timely, and accurate admitting service for patients, physicians, and their related departments
Addresses complaints and resolves problems
Ensures that service excellence initiatives are implemented and consistently maintained, including AIDET scripting, SHARE, and service recovery
Maintains a clean and orderly appearance of the work area at all times
Exhibits flexibility with changes and developments within the department
Performs receptionist and clerk duties relating to the admission and discharge of patients, requiring some independent judgment and working knowledge of department procedures
