Requirements

Knowledge of USDA grade specifications and PACA procedures
Ability to perform quality grading audits and quality tests on produce
Familiarity with food safety, sanitation, and quality standards
Experience in inventory control management and conducting daily inventory counts
Capability to conduct food safety and sanitation warehouse audits
Proficiency in documenting and filing federal, state, food safety, and company documents
Skills in training support staff on produce inspection
Ability to research, resolve, and report discrepancies accurately and quickly
Understanding of company policies for verifying club shipments and reconciling variances

Responsibilities

Inspect produce deliveries to determine acceptance or rejection based on contract and USDA specifications
Perform quality tests on produce commodities and document inspection results
Approve or reject deliveries on BJ's behalf in accordance with PACA procedures
Record and report rejection percentiles, problem notes, and Temp Tales data
Confer with Produce Buying department when product does not meet standards
Perform daily quality checks of produce inventory and salvage inferior product
Audit inventory for accuracy, investigate discrepancies, and adjust with third-party Inventory Control Department
Conduct periodic food safety and sanitation warehouse audits
Ensure adherence to all federal, state, food safety, and company guidelines
File required federal, state, and food safety documents accurately and timely
Verify club shipments, reconcile selection variances, and monitor load sequence
Distribute reports to appropriate Home Office team members
Train support staff on produce inspection processes
Assist with positive receiving operations as needed
Respond to questions or concerns in a timely manner
